This slot by WMS features the Black Knight which has appeared in many works of fiction, featuring particularly in a number of works relating to Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table. This sequel to Black Knight isn’t a complete reworking of the original slot, as there are a number of changes to the game, but fans of the original will also enjoy the many familiarities. Although the symbols remain the same, each has been given a new, updated look, while both the configuration of the slot and the number of win lines has increased.

The game features a wild and a feature symbol which work together more closely than you’d normally find at a slot, while the free spins round can certainly be very profitable. The black knight is seen in full length on horseback at this version of the game, holding the shield which features the knight found on a chessboard – making for the most eye-catching symbol on the reels.

How to Win at Black Knight 2

Your biggest wins at the game will certainly come during the free spins feature. This round is activated when landing the shield symbol three or more times across any of the reels. However, unlike the vast majority of other online slots, the wild symbol can also count as a scatter, which is certainly a nice surprise, making the feature much more accessible. The Black Knight is the wild and is stacked throughout the game, appearing on reels 2, 3 and 4.

You’ll gain an immediate scatter win when activating the feature (up to an impressive 2,000 coins for the maximum five) and then the free spins will begin. You’ll only have 7 free spins, which is a little disappointing, but you do have the added bonus that the wild symbol will become sticky, remaining in place for the duration of the feature when it encompasses a whole reel. This makes for a round that could become progressively better as you reach the latter stages, especially if you can fill 2 or 3 reels with wilds.

You’ll also win in the usual way at the base game by landing three or more symbols in a row on a win line. Just like the original, the King is the top paying symbol at the game, this time the King paying 500 coins. The queen and the jester, who look much like Maria Sharapova and Ricky Gervais, come next at 250 coins. The King is the only symbol that will pay out for landing 2 in a row. Other symbols on the reels include a golden crown on a cushion, a royal staff enveloped by a red ribbon, a silver ring with the black knight insignia upon it and the playing card symbols from Jack to Ace.

All of the symbols seem to be stacked on occasions which can lead to more wins coming in clusters instead of individually, this aided by the stacked wilds offered by the masked black knight.

How the Black Knight 2 Works

The Black Knight 2 has a 5x4 configuration (the original had a 5x3 set up) meaning that this game can offer 40 lines instead of the previous 30. Both the number of lines and the coin amount are completely customizable – this slot offering two ways of setting these amounts. Using the classic panel, you’ll set both the win lines and the bet per line manually, while the quickbet option sees you click on one of a number of boxes showing the total stake for each spin. You’ll also find a one-click auto play option, where the game will proceed merrily on its way!

Graphically the slot is a big step up from the original. The game has a lot more color, all of the symbols sitting on a royal blue background, while the character symbols have a little more verve about them and are certainly more striking. The accompanying sound is a step up too, as throughout the game you’ll hear the background noise of what sounds like a summer festival in the days of King Arthur – with loud cheering, horses neighing, the clatter of swords and general revelry.

Overall Experience with the Black Knight 2

Although not a complete overhaul of the original, this game is different enough to attract fans of the original game across to the new version. The graphics are better, there are more winning opportunities and the fact that you can use the wild to activate the scatter is certainly unique. Whether this is enough to attract all slot fans however is open to question, as the game still has just the one feature, which will not suit everyone. Nevertheless, fans of straightforward, no fuss slots will certainly give Black Knight 2 the time of day!
