Dragon's Inferno Slot Review

There are a number of dragon themed slots online but you might feel particularly sorry for this dragon - as he seems to be surrounded by characters who want to slay him. Firstly there is a knight wearing metal armor who wants to kill him with his sword. Secondly a green clad archer a little like Robin Hood is aiming an arrow at the fire breathing beast. Finally a female character clad in pink has electric rays emanating from her hands, surely aimed for the dragon. The dragon is no angel himself however, as he is greedily seen hoarding the golden treasure, so it’s no wonder he is much sought after!

This WMS designed slot has two main bonus features – one where you’ll gain a potentially large number of free spins, while one of the two wilds at the slot can enable many additional wins.

How to Win at Dragon's Inferno

The main bonus feature here is the free spins round which is activated by the fiery dragon symbol. You certainly can’t miss the symbol because as well as being the most striking visually, it is also slightly larger than the other symbols, invading the space of the lesser symbols (perhaps this is another reason they want to kill him!). Land this symbol 3 times across any of the reels and you’ll gain 10 free spins, but 4 or 5 dragon scatters will double the number of free spins up to 20 and then 40. These free spins are the subject of a 2x multiplier, making for a nice feature, especially if you can land more than the minimum 3 scatters.

The other feature, although not quite so impressive financially as the free spins, is nice in its originality. Another oversized dragon appears on reel 3, this being the one that is hoarding the gold. This is a wild and if should appear on a spin where a win is achieved, this wild will now start turning other symbols into the same as those that achieved the win, making the win amount larger as you’ll either have more winning combinations, or larger winning payouts.

This is not the only wild at the slot however as there is a standard one which appears on reels 1, 2, 4 and 5. This works in the normal way of substituting for any other symbol apart from the scatter. This is also the highest paying symbol on the reels, worth 500 coins for 5 in a row, 200 coins for 4 and 50 coins for 3. You’ll need to land this symbol and indeed all others at least three times or more in a row from left to right on a win line to gain a payout. The three characters apart from the dragon all pay 200 coins for the full house of 5, while the rest of the symbols include an ancient book, a sword and the four playing card suits.

How Dragon’s Inferno Slot Works

Like the majority of online slots, Dragon’s Lair has a 5x3 configuration.  The number of win lines is fixed at 30, but you’ll be able to customize the coin amount, starting at 1c per line, all the way up to $3, giving the slot a total stake maximum of $90. For ease, WMS have introduced a ‘quick bet’ panel (found by clicking on the tiny QB button found on the bottom left hand corner of the screen) where you’ll simply click a box to set your total stake. You’ll also find an auto play option which will continue until a feature is landed or you hit stop.

Graphically the game is good, especially when it comes to the two oversized dragon symbols. The color scheme is good too, with the controls in gold and blue, while the same blue provides the backing to the reels. Behind the reels you’ll find a fiery, lava ridden backdrop, which might remind you of the scene in the ‘Lord of the Rings’ where the ring is finally destroyed. The only slight criticism is the accompanying sound to the slot, which is exactly what you might find at a number of slots, with no real relevance to the fantasy theme.

Overall Experience at Dragon’s Inferno

This is an OK slot, without ever reaching the heights you might expect from a game produced by WMS. The replicating wilds are a nice unique touch, but these in conjunction with the same free spins you’ll find at the majority of online slots don’t really go far enough – especially when you consider the bonus features you could invent based around a dragon. Nevertheless, the visuals are particularly good at times and this may appeal to a number of players, while it would also be nice to get your hands on some of that treasure.
